Founder / CEO

Martin is the Founder and CEO of Forces for Kids. Driven by his motivation to support local schools and community organizations, he created Forces for Kids along with Fundmyclassroom.com, fundkidsports.com and bidtocare.com. In addition to Forces for Kids, Martin is founder and lead product designer for Elite Web Techs, a multifunctional programming company based out of Traverse City, Michigan. Martin has an entrepreneurial heart and has helped both well established and startup companies take their ideas from concept to fruition. Martin is active in the Traverse City community and can always be found taking a lead role supporting education and non-profit organizations. Martin enjoys spending time with his wife Rebecca and their children, all of whom play an active role providing inspiration for new ideas.


Designer / Web Developer

Heather is the Designer and Web Developer for Forces for Kids. She first started working with Martin at Elite Web Techs in 2010. They teamed together to create websites promoting local community, and local businesses. Heather has been building websites since she was 15 years old, and is constantly expanding her technological knowledge and experience. She’s experienced in HTML, CSS, Javascript, graphic design, Photoshop, video editing, and animation. In her free time, Heather enjoys fighting for animal rights, cooking, and hiking.


Communication & Development Specialist

Lee Harrison Perry joined Forces for Kids at its inception in January of 2014 as Communication and Development Strategist. Lee has a Bachelor’s of Business Degree from Western Michigan University with an emphasis in Finance and Business Communications. Prior to joining Forces for Kids, she had 25 years of experience in both the corporate and non-profit arenas blending creative strategic planning and solid operational management. Contributions from her past experience in banking, hospitality and publishing won her several awards for creativity and significant contribution including invitations to speak nationally. Lee loves northern Michigan where she lives with her husband and five children. She is an artist at heart and enjoys several forms of media. Lee enjoys the local music scene of Traverse City, is active in her church and loves travel.


Communication & Development Specialist

Forces for Kids welcomed Karla Shiels at inception as a Communication and Development Strategist in January 2014. Karla attended Northwestern Michigan College focusing on Marketing and Business Administration. She brings over 20 years of strategic experience in creative marketing, media relations, and played a critical role in cross functioning business teams. Karla has worked with some of the area’s largest employers and managed million dollar budgets. She was a member and has served on the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing Committee for several years. Karla also served on the Leelanau Peninsula Chamber Board of Directors. Her experience in training, customer service and relationship development make her an invaluable asset. Karla enjoys the outdoors; skiing, golfing, travel and boating and can be seen around Traverse City riding her Electra cruiser “Whitey” looking for her next adventure.


Education Consultant

The Forces for Kids team is strengthened by the addition of Julie Eikey as Education Consultant. Julie has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State and Master’s Degree in Education from Ferris State University as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. Julie has 26 years of experience working as a teacher and advocate for children. Julie is bilingual and spent time as a Multi Cultural Educator teaching English as a second language developing her love for diverse cultures. Her passion has always been assisting and helping people discover their true potential; children or adults. When not spending time with family, reading or traveling, she can be found sailing and having anything to do with “water”.


SEO / Web Developer

Scott O’Toole has had a passion for web development and design since his youth in Dublin. He joined our team several years ago after many collaborations together. His website designs are practical, intuitive, responsive and creative. Scott merges strong back-end architecture with innovative conceptual design on a foundation of solid organic SEO principles to deliver a quality user experience. In addition to his comprehensive knowledge of the entire Adobe Creative Suite, HTML5, CSS and SASS he has a remarkable eye for pixel perfect designs. He uses a trained hand to create Google AdWords display advertisements, rich media display advertisements, and manages company profiles on many of the most popular social media platforms including: Google+, Google Places, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter. Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Business & Management from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in 2011.
